IOM Commits to Supporting Uganda's Development

Hon. Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today morning met with Mr. Sanusi Tejan SAVAGE, Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Uganda at the Ministry Headquarters.

Mr. Savage called on the Office of the Minister to discuss matters of mutual interest to Uganda and IOM . He further informed the Minister that his office donated items worth 280,000 Usd to Ministry of Internal affairs.

The Chief of Mission stressed that IOM will continue supporting Uganda in the areas of; Immigration and boarder management and labour mobility and human development. He further pointed out that IOM office will continue to support Uganda government's efforts in engaging the diaspora.

Hon. Odongo welcomed the Chief of Mission and commended IOM for the humanitarian work they are doing in Uganda. The Minister hailed IOM's efforts in supporting the country's diaspora engagement efforts noting that working with the diaspora is one of the key priorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Odongo concluded by stating that he looks forward to continuing the good working relationship.
