Akon Seeks to Invest in Uganda's Infrastructure

Mr. Aliaune Damala Badara Thiam "Akon", celebrated Senegalese - American Musician, Investor and Philanthropist is on a business visit to Uganda. 

He spoke to the media today afternoon at a press conference held at the Office of the President.

Akon called for unity and working together across African countries to achieve synergistic development. He recognized Africa's potential to provide tailored solutions to African problems. He advanced his infrastructural idea of the "Akon futuristic City" that can address some of these problems.

Akon expressed his amazement at the beauty of Uganda and her immense tourist and investment potential which he promised to expose internationally to the outside world.  

Earlier today, Akon met with senior Government Officials including Ministers; Hon. Okello Oryem, State Minister of Foreign Affairs (International Affairs), Hon Isaac Musumba, State Minister for Urban Development, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, State Minister for Housing, Mr. Abbey Walusimbi, Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, and Ms Lilly Ajarova, CEO Uganda Tourism Board. The meeting discussed potential areas of investment in detail. The Government promised cooperation and support for Akon's ready investment idea. 

On Friday last week, Akon and his delegation called on H.E the President in Rwakitura and discussed different investment opportunities in various sectors of Energy, Tourism, and Infrastructure development. President Museveni pledged one square mile of land to kickstart Akon's investment projects.
