Hon. Sam Kutesa hails Uganda - Dutch Bilateral Relations

Hon. Sam .. KUTESA, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, this morning met with H.E. Karin BOVEN, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Uganda at the Ministry Headquarters.

H.E. Boven, called on the Minister to discuss matters of Bilateral and International interest. Hon. Kutesa welcomed the Ambassador and commended the excellent bilateral relations between Uganda and Netherlands which continue to grow from strength to strength.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Minister for taking time to have this meeting and reiterated the Dutch Government's ambitions for promoting development cooperation with Uganda in supporting some projects  which aim at:

  • Eradicating extreme poverty in a single generation.
  • Promoting sustainable, inclusive growth that also benefits the poorest and most vulnerable populations in Uganda.

In terms of promoting economic cooperation, Amb. Boven further underscored the need for more engagement with the relevant Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA's) to continue to achieve;
  • More and better access to International markets
  • Increased production and marketing chains more sustainable economic growth.

The Meeting further deliberated ways to further strengthen cooperation in other key sector areas of Agriculture, Education, Health, and Justice, Law and Order Sector to mention but a few, as well as reviewing the funding from the Democratic Governance Fund (DGF) that was sustaining some development projects in the above mentioned sectors.

The meeting was attended by Mrs. Joyce Badaru Onek the Head of International Economic Cooperation Department, as well as other senior Officials of the Ministry.
