Irish Ambassador to Uganda Pays Courtesy Call on The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Permanent Secretary, Amb. Patrick Mugoya, this afternoon met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to Uganda, H.E. William Carlos
The Permanent Secretary and his guest discussed matters regarding security in the Eastern and Central Africa region specifically in Somalia, Central Africa Republic and Democratic Republic of Congo. They called for promotion, coordination and support of Peace and Security initiatives in the Region given Ireland's membership to the UN Security Council.
The Permanent Secretary further reiterated the importance of cooperation between the United Nations Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council in working together to resolve regional security issues.
The meeting concluded by the Irish Ambassador assuring the Permanent Secretary that the Government of Ireland will continue working closely with Uganda to preserve peace and security in the region.
