UGANDA ENTERS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH HUNGARY

Uganda and Hungary have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enter a strategic partnership aimed at development cooperation. The announcement was made at a joint press conference by Hon. Sam Kutesa and his Hungarian counterpart, Peter Szijjarto in Budapest on Thursday 13 September 2018.

Mr. Szijjarto commended Uganda for its contribution to regional peace and security, for providing shelter to one and a half million refugees from neighboring countries and for a shared understanding with Hungary that includes the need to tackle the root causes of conflict and forced migration.
Hon.  Sam Kutesa, who was on a three-day official visit to Hungary from 12th to 14th September 2018 during a joint press briefing stated that both countries had agreed on  a four-point development programme in Uganda that includes assistance to Uganda as a refugee hosting country.
The technical assistance includes improved access to clean water in refugee hosting communities and installation of solar panels to enhance access to electricity.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister further informed the press briefing that Hungary would offer assistance to Uganda in establishing a complex cyber security system,production of security documents and counter-terrorism. The two countries have reinforced cooperation in the agriculture sector with Hungary offering capacity building courses for agriculture professionals and scholarships for studying at different levels at Hungarian Universities.

During the visit, Hon Sam Kutesa signed bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing development cooperation with the Ministry of Human capacities of Hungary for further cooperation in the field of Higher Education. It should be noted that Hungary has one of the highest rates of filed patents, the 6th highest ratio of high-tech and medium high-tech output in the total industrial output, the 12th highest research FDI inflow and 17th best overall innovation efficiency ratio in the world.

Ugandan Tour Operators at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2019, 15th-April 2019

Today, the 11th April 2019,  the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) officials, led by Ms. Lilly Ajarova (UTB CEO), including Ms. Edith Kateme Kasajja (UTB Board Member), Ms. Dorcas Namajja (UTB Marketing Officer), and Mr. Daniel Irunga (UTB Marketing Officer), led a group of  Ugandan Tour Operators to the World Travel Market (WTM) 2019 in Cape Town - South Africa.

UGANDA AND KENYA HOLD 1ST JOINT PERMANENT COMMISSION , 21ST -25TH MARCH 2019 NAIROBI, 22nd-March 2019

Today witnessed a momentous occasion  in which Uganda and Kenya held the first session of the Joint Permanent Commission in Nairobi - Kenya. The Agreement establishing the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) was signed on 16th  November 1993, which is approximately 26 years ago.
