AMBASSADOR RICHARD KABONERO TUMUSIME PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO H.E. JOHN JOSEPH POMBE MAGUFULI

Amb. Richard Kabonero Tumusiime, the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda to Tanzania today Tuesday 1st August 2017 presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. John Joseph Pombe Magufuli, President of the United Republic of Tanzania at State House, Dar-es-Salaam.

After the presenting the Letters of Credence, H.E. John Joseph Pombe Magufuli welcome Amb. Kabonero to the United Republic of Tanzania and congratulated him upon his appointment as Uganda's High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania. H.E. President Magufuli informed the High Commissioner that he has an excellent working relationship with H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda who also studied and lived in Tanzania for many years. The President underscored the importance of continued strengthening of the excellent bilateral relations between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Uganda.

H.E. President Magufuli emphasized the fact that Tanzanians and Ugandans are blood brothers with the two countries having shed blood for each other. The President therefore noted that the High Commissioner is indeed at home and should feel free to contact him on any matter of mutual interests to the bilateral relations between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Uganda.

The President also said Amb. Kabonero has arrived at the right time when H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda and himself are set to launch the important project for the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) from Hoima in Uganda to Tanga Port in Tanzania which is scheduled to take place in Tanga, Tanzania on 5th August 2017. This project is said is a lucid demonstration of the good cooperation between Uganda and Tanzania and will go a long way in providing impetus to economic growth of the two countries.

On his part, Amb. Kabonero, the Ugandan High Commissioner appreciated H.E. John Joseph Pombe Magufuli, President of the United Republic of Tanzania for welcoming him to the country and said he looked forward to working very constructively with him to advance the good relations that exist between Uganda and Tanzania.

Ambassador Kabonero who arrived in Dar-es-Salaam yesterday on Monday 31st August 2017 and was accompanied by Mr. Oscar J. Edule/Counsellor and Ms. Janat Najjuma/Third Secretary, both officials of Uganda High Commission in Dar-es-Salaam, was received at State House by the State House Comptroller in a colorful ceremony.

Ugandan Tour Operators at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2019, 15th-April 2019

Today, the 11th April 2019,  the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) officials, led by Ms. Lilly Ajarova (UTB CEO), including Ms. Edith Kateme Kasajja (UTB Board Member), Ms. Dorcas Namajja (UTB Marketing Officer), and Mr. Daniel Irunga (UTB Marketing Officer), led a group of  Ugandan Tour Operators to the World Travel Market (WTM) 2019 in Cape Town - South Africa.

UGANDA AND KENYA HOLD 1ST JOINT PERMANENT COMMISSION , 21ST -25TH MARCH 2019 NAIROBI, 22nd-March 2019

Today witnessed a momentous occasion  in which Uganda and Kenya held the first session of the Joint Permanent Commission in Nairobi - Kenya. The Agreement establishing the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) was signed on 16th  November 1993, which is approximately 26 years ago. 

STATEMENT ON THE ALLEGED CLOSURE OF THE UGANDA BORDER WITH RWANDA, 14th-March 2019

Uganda wishes to refute allegations that it closed its borders with Rwanda. Since 28th February 2019 when the Government of Rwanda issued an advisory against travel of its nationals to Uganda, flow of traffic from Uganda to Rwanda has been continuing normally as detailed below
