UGANDA HOLDS AN EXCEPTIONAL TOURISM EXHIBITION ON THE BASTILLE DAY ON 14TH JULY 2017

Uganda has identified tourism as an entry point in realising fast and quick hanging fruits of commercial diplomacy.
For the first time, Uganda participated as an exhibitor at the Diplomatic Garden Party on 14th July 2017, which is hosted by La Lettre Diplomatique in celebration of the existence of La Lettre Diplomatique magazine and the French National day known as Bastille Day.
This event brought together over 1200 guests from the diplomatic community in France, in the categories of Ambassadors, Delegates to international bodies like UNESCO, OECD, business representatives from BMW Paris, Vivendi, International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD), AirFrance, the International Organisation of La Francophonie, to mention but a few.
The Ugandan stand was manned by Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), which were represented by Mr.  Stephen Asiimwe CEO of UTB, Mrs. Babra Vanhelleputte Chairperson of AUTO, Ms. Marinka Sanc-George of Lets Go Travel in conjunction with Ugandan Embassy in Paris, headed by Amb. Nimisha Madhvani, Amb. Elly Kamahungye and the Mission Team in Paris.
Uganda took this opportunity to promote both cultural and tourism products by showcasing videos of cultural heritage sites such as Namugongo Shrines, Kasubi Tombs and UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Rwenzori Mountains National Park.  Major Uganda’s commercial products such as coffee, tea and honey were exhibited and others were given out as gifts to those who visited the Ugandan stand.  This event was used to brand the country, not only as the ‘Pearl of Africa’ but also as an ultimate investment and tourism destination.

Ambassador Fernandez Tarja Ovvokki the new Finland Ambassador to Uganda presented her working copies of credentials to the Minister of State for Foreign affairs Hon. Okello Oryem at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala on the 17 January 2018.
