UGANDA - SOUTH SUDAN BORDER JTC

A Government multi-sectoral team headed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in Addis Ababa today concluded a meeting of the Joint Technical Committee for the delimitation and demarcation of Uganda/South Sudan border. 

The Meeting held at the AU Hq in Addis Ababa between 19th and 21st April discussed all technical, logistical and security requirements that will need to be availed before the 470km Uganda - South Sudan border is delineated and demarcated.  

A.U Border Program experts provided technical expertise and in-depth consultations and best-practice information for both delegations

The Uganda delegation was led by Amb. Paul Mukumbya, Head of the East African Community and Ring States Dept (MoFA). 

Other members included Col. Abel Kandiho (head CMI ) Commissioner Ogalo Wilson Ministry of Lands, Mr. Benon Kayemba (MoFA) Mr Agama Anthony Woling (Charge D'Affaired a.i at Uganda Embassy Juba) Mr. Sirapiyo Tumwesigye (MoFA), Mr. Julius Mwijusya (EAC Mofa Sudan desk). 

Other Government Departments represented included Uganda Police Force, the UPDF, Ministry of Local government, Office of the President and the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
