YOUNG EGYPTIAN DIPLOMATS VISIT THEIR UGANDAN COUNTERPARTS

On 5th April 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a team of young Egyptian Diplomats undergoing a two year induction course at the Diplomatic Institute of Cairo. The team which is on a 5-day visit to Uganda was led by Assistant Foreign Minister and Institute Director, Dr. Heba El Marassi, accompanied by Egyptian Ambassador to Uganda, H.E Mai Taha Muhammed Khalil.

The visit was made possible following August 2015 bilateral consultations between the Republic of Uganda and the Arab Republic of and Egypt in which it was agreed that both Governments would facilitate continuous exchange of visits for experts and trainees. As part of their training, the young diplomats are required to meet and network with counterparts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On arrival at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, the guests were received and addressed by Senior officers from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Acting Permanent Secretary Ambassador David Etuket, Mrs. Juliet Sekitoleko Kibirige and Dr. Sam Omara, Ag. Director for Uganda Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs.

Dr. Omara, gave the young diplomats an insight into Uganda's foreign Policy and led a vibrant discussion on the same. Amb. Khalil commended Uganda's for its close diplomatic relations with the Arab Republic of Egypt stating that that her Government's goals in relation to Uganda included improved partnership and economic relations, coordination of country positions, various strategic partnerships and direct communication.

Emphasizing the importance of understanding instructions, carrying out research and networking with colleagues from different countries, Amb. Etuket, explained to the young diplomats the importance of  being both dependable and effective in carrying out their duties.

As part of their program, they visited interesting sites in Kampala, Jinja and Entebbe, various Government Ministries and The Parliament of Uganda. The team's visit runs from 3rd -7th April 2017.

INCOMING FINLAND AMBASSADOR TO UGANDA PRESENTS COPIES OF CREDENTIALS TO STATE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, 17th-January 2018

Ambassador Fernandez Tarja Ovvokki the new Finland Ambassador to Uganda presented her working copies of credentials to the Minister of State for Foreign affairs Hon. Okello Oryem at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala on the 17 January 2018.
