Political dialogue between Ugandan Delegation and EU Delegation on the Anti-Homosexuality Act (AHA).

Following the adoption of the Anti-Homosexuality Act (AHA), the delegation of the Government of the Republic of Uganda led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sam Kutesa and the delegation of the European Union led by the EU Ambassador to Uganda, H.E Kristian Schmidt, engaged in a political dialogue on 28 March 2014, in accordance with Article 8 of the ACP-EU partnership agreement ("Cotonou agreement"). The dialogue was held in a constructive and cordial atmosphere at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wapakhabulo Auditorium.

Whereas the engagement has not been conclusive, both parties reconfirmed mutual commitments to their equal partnership as they have agreed to continue to pursue a political dialogue on the issue of AHA.

The delegation from Uganda included the Ministers of Finance, Internal Affairs, Information and National Guidance, and Ethics and Integrity.The EU delegation comprised of Ambassadors and High Commissioners from France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Republic of Ireland and Britain.
