Amb. Nimisha Madhvani at the organisation and conception of the exhibition "Girls' voices: speaking out against child marriage".

The Ambassador of Uganda to France, Spain and Portugal and Permanent Delegate of Uganda to UNESCO, OECD and BIE Nimisha Madhvani appreciated the great efforts made in the organisation and conception of the exhibition "Girls' voices: speaking out against child marriage". She emphasized the significance of having female leaders such as the Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova and the Canadian Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO Elaine Ayotte awakening minds on the relevance of girls' voices being heard globally so as to protect their fundamental rights of going to school and finishing it without being forced into early marriage.

She then introduced Professor Allan Birabi, Uganda's representative to UNESCO and the acting Secretary General of the National Commission in Uganda Rosie Agoi. Professor Birabi expressed that the Uganda government supports the Girl child and promotes gender equality enforcement in Uganda. He reported that Uganda President Museveni had recently publicly highlighted the importance of equal opportunities for girls and boys in the country.

He concluded by saying

"Uganda thanks the Permanent Delegate of Canada for holding this exhibition in favour of girls' voices. Uganda stands strongly against girl child marriages and fully supports gender equality for all opportunities"
