Young Diplomats Advised to Always Be Ahead of Situations

The newly posted Accounting Officers and Financial Attachés to Ugandan Missions abroad have been advised to always communicate through reports and briefs to avoid conflicts in missions. The advice was given by the Ag. PS/ FA Ambassador Nathan Ndoboli while he was official opening a two weeks training of these officer as they prepare to take over their new assignments effective July this year.

Amb. Nathan Ndoboli asked the officers to understand their roles as accounting officers to avoid crashing with their superiors like Heads of Missions. He counselled them to always equip themselves with information through consultations and reading the necessary laws like Standing orders, Financial Management Act, and their Appointment Letters among others. He advised them to be proactive and report the financial position in finance committee.

The ceremony was also attended by the Under Secretary Mr. Ben Kumumanya who pledged to be available for guidance whenever contacted. Mr. Kumumanya also advised the trainees to always be strategic to solve abnormal situations which have no generic rules.

The training has been organised by Uganda Institute for Diplomacy and International Affairs (UIDIA) together with the Accountant General¡¯s Office to prepare the officers for their new assignments as financial managers in Missions abroad. The last part of the training will be spent at MOFPED to master the NAVISION, a system used for financial management.
