First Ladies in Africa commend H.E and First Lady on HIV/AIDS Effort
The Organisation of African First Ladies Against HIV and AIDS (OAFLA) has commended the efforts of President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Hon. Janet Museveni for their untiring campaign against HIV/AIDS, not only in Uganda but the world atlarge.  The First ladies under OAFLA attributed Uganda’s successes against the HIV/AIDS scourge to political commitment  as well as personal involvement of President Museveni and First Lady, Hon. Janet.

“ I want to first extend my gratitude to the First Lady of Uganda, Mrs. Museveni, who is hosting our meeting in the beautiful city of Kampala,” the President of OAFLA, who is also the Ethiopian First Lady, Azeb Mesfin said in her opening remarks at the OAFLA’s Eighth General Assembly at the Commonwealth Resort, Munyonyo.  She said, “Uganda is considered a success story worldwide for its efforts to combat HIV/AIDS. One of the main reasons for this success is the high level political commitment as well as personal involvement of President Museveni and our own colleague and sister, Janet Museveni”. “Thanks you for not only hosting our meeting today but for all the years of work you have put in the service of our cause,” she added.  Mrs. Museveni on her part welcomed the First Ladies to Uganda and thanked them for efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS.  She said Uganda will continue to provide ARVs but put emphasis on controlling new infections. She called on people to be responsible and avoid being complacemnent because of availability of ARVs.
