    HON. SAM K. KUTESA ADDRESSES THE PRESS ON THE OUTCOME OF THE RECENT AU SUMMIT HELD IN ADDIS ABABA,

    Addressing the press  on 12th Feb 2013  on the outcome of the recent AU summit held in Addis Ababa, Foreign Affairs Minister  Hon. Sam Kutesa  informed them that Uganda had submitted to  the African Union (AU) its candidature for the post of President of the UN General Assembly, a position if acquired will allow it greater influence on the international scene.

    Leaders of International Conference on the Great Lakes Region and Southern African Development Community sign Peace, deal

    SADC and  ICGLR leaders signed a UN-brokered accord which aims to bring peace to the troubled eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The agreement was signed on 3rd Sunday 2013, at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa. The 12 signing countries are from the Great Lakes region and Southern Africa. The deal was signed in the presence of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Leaders from the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) had originally been expected to sign the deal on January 29 on the sidelines of the African Union summit but was called off at the last minute.  No representatives of rebel groups attended the signing in Addis Ababa.

    The East African Community (EAC) is the regional intergovernmental organisation of the Republics of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania, and the Republic of Uganda, with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.

    Ministers sign the Regional Inter-Ministerial Committee (RMIC) of the ICGLR on February 28, 2013

    The meeting of the Regional International Committee (RMIC) of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) was held in Bujumbura, Burundi on 28th February 2013. Chaired by Hon. Sam K. Kutesa (Pictured Right), Uganda’s     Minister of Foreign Affairs and the current chair of RMIC, the meeting was attended by all Foreign Ministers of the 12 ICGLR member countries.

    The Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia lifts travel ban on Ugandans

    While addressing the press on May 21, 2013, Hon Kiyingi informed that Ugandans can now travel to Saudi Arabia following the lift of the ban that was slammed on Uganda because of the outbreak of Ebola in south-western Uganda in 2012.   Hon.  Asuman Kiyingi said that the ban had affected Muslims pilgrims most, who had to miss the annual event of visiting the wholly land to perform the hijjah.
